Title: Louis Armstrong - A Rhapsody in Black and Blue (1932)
Description: In prime early form, Satch sings "(I'll Be Glad When You're Dead) You Rascal You," "Shine," and plays "Chinatown, My Chinatown." Another plus is that Louis' generally sorry-sounding OKeh-era big band seems to be having a particularly good day. (On the minus side, everything else about this short - from its "plot" to the settings - is stuffed with stereotypes that may offend 21st-century sensibilities.) Regardless how one feels about the trappings of the day, Louis - as always - rises far above the nonsense surrounding him below.
